BACKGROUND

CONBRAKO (PTY) LTD, originally the Consolidated Brake Company, was formed in 1958, in Wadeville, Germiston, to manufacture and supply Vacuum Braking equipment to the South African Railways. Transnet and the South African rail industry remain the major customers ofCONBRAKO (PTY) LTD. Railway products are also exported to China, Burma, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the DRC, Mozambique, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

In 1986 CONBRAKO (PTY) LTD was merged with the Railway Division of Dowson & Dobson and Klockner-Becorit Coalequip, which manufactured and supplied Air Brake equipment to the South African Railways.

WHAT WE DO

The company relocated in 2001 to its present factory (14 000 m² under cover on a 33 000 m² site) in Chamdor, Krugersdorp where it manufactures and assembles the following rail products:

CONBRAKO (PTY) LTD uses various sub-contractors for heat treatment, electro-plating, hot dipped galvanizing, shot-blasting and special coatings, laser profiling, etc.

CONBRAKO (PTY) LTD’s numerous workshops are fitted with all the machinery and technology required to ensure consistent high standards and precision manufacturing.
